Madrid too hot and stuffy in July. It's also been hit far harder than Barc by the ongoing economic crisis in Spain. The result is loads of boarded up shops and eateries plus a real gangs of pickpockets issue. The PPs being not only of African origin. Barc has been somehow cushioned from the worst problems by having a thriving year round tourist trade and the Med. of course.

"And fuck knows where all the Africans are that lewisham was talking about. I didn't see loads of them hanging around."

I think you've read it wrong. It was actually Barcelona Hammer writing a review about his trip to Lewisham.

Porto is nice. If you like port you should go, the tours of the Douro Valley are great ways to get smashed cheaply and with style. Lisbon is better for a night out though.

I'm searching for a deal on a couple of days in Madrid, nothing coming up less than a bag, which seems a bit on top for a short break.

Bloody hell Lewisham had a bad time in Barcelona.

I live it, my favourite city in the world. Park Guell is amazing. Even the kids loved it, the architecture is so strange.

Loads of stuff to do in. Barcelona. I went with the family including walking around with the kids late at night and never had any trouble. When I went just with the Mrs some bloke tried to sell us weed but that happens in most cities. And fuck knows where all the Africans are that lewisham was talking about. I didn't see loads of them hanging around.

I wouldn't go to Madrid. Lisbon is also nice but less enjoyable for the kids I reckon.

Some people can't wipe their arses without coming on here and asking for advice. What is wrong with taking a kid into a bar in Spain? She is 12, not 2. Some of my best childhood memories are going into the tapas bars in Spain (use to go every year) playing on the pinball machines, snooker tables and watching how the locals interact, it was an education.

You sound like a bit of a dullard mate.

Is there some hitherto unfathomable reason you have not considered LEYSDOWN?

Personally disliked Barcelona, it's been ruined by drunk British stag groups and with that comes the streets at night being littered with pick pockets, prostitutes and people selling drugs all over the place, as well as large groups of Africans hanging about everywhere. don't get your phone nicked there either, by the time you've reported it they'll have made 500 calls in an hour to premium numbers in the middle east costing you a fortune - speaking from personal experience here if you hadn't guessed. My taxi driver from the airport into the centre also spent the whole journey shouting at his brother on the phone, he then went on to tell me he's concerned as he thinks he's about to go and join ISIS.

Don't get me wrong the beach in the day is brilliant but hated the place at night and I love a night out on the town!!

As someone has pointed out already, go to Lisbon, people are actually friendly/helpful its about twice as cheap and if you get a taxi 20 mins out of the centre some of the beaches are superb, clean and a lot quieter.

Also enjoyed Porto in late January, in fact Portugal pisses all over Spain for me and I used to be a huge fan of Spain. The hospitality in Portugal wins hands down.
